A Letter from the CEO
The story of Tyler Madison Inc. brings us back in time to Apple Valley, Minnesota, in 1995. My father, Jerry, was the first in his family to receive a college education. Himself being familiar with the wire rope business, he saw an opportunity to build upon what was currently being offered within the industry. He observed that manufacturing practices had become rigid. Driven by a vision to revolutionize customer service, he dedicated himself to treat customers with a personalized touch and adapting the company’s services to each client’s unique needs.
During this time he was building global business relationships with just a phone line and fax machine. We didn’t notice that the family vacations stopped, or that the clothing we were wearing was on it’s second life-cycle. We were in this together, It was quite literally a “family” business.
Reflecting on my journey to becoming CEO, I now see the mandatory family hardships as challenging steps along a path that brought both me and the company to where we are now. These experiences, while difficult, shaped my perspective over time and transformed themselves into a deep sense of gratitude. I was lucky to have a father that pushed me to pursue unique experiences, forms of employment, and a love of the natural world. Without this push I never would have never pursued a degree in Biology from the University of Iowa, started a gourmet mushroom farm or ran salmon fry measurements at a hatchery in Alaska. These ventures have inspired my approach to leading Tyler Madison Inc.
Our world is experiencing a variety of novel challenges these days. Low-quality food, water and pharmaceuticals are some of the more obvious dangers lurking at our collective doors.
We share a duty as businesses, large and small, to lead the way toward a more positive future, and there are infinite ways to do so! We want to follow a true path to planetary change, not just look or act the part.
Our company is fortunate to leave only a small footprint. We produce little to no industrial waste. It is our goal to put a considerable percentage of Tyler Madison resources toward processes that create a measurably healthier and more sustainable environment. Processes such as soil building, purchasing of nature preserves, and assisting indigenous communities to continue their traditional practices while adapting to and joining the modern world. We are working currently on a master plan to implement our obligations to the planet.
If your business also shares an interest in protecting humanity’s future in any other way, feel free to reach out; we are stronger together. Let’s build a brighter future for us all.
Cheers,
-Tyler Kistner, CEO
